Mileage expenses

We are a small company where mileage is paid to 2/3 employees. Up to now we have been paying a flat rate of 47 cent per km. However, with the new ERR now in operation, we want to tighten up on this area and want to make sure we are complying with taxation rules. The Revenue guidelines say any mileage should be in line with the Civil Service rates which seems to operate on a sliding scale based on the cc of the car and level of mileage incurred. Would anyone have a link to an excel template that we may be able to adapt ?

Hi there,

In case you don't have this to hand here are the rules from revenue re civil service mileage rates (and overnights)

https://www.revenue.ie/en/employing...avel-and-subsistence/civil-service-rates.aspx

No excel template but easy enough to bash together.

Best,

@Staple do read what @Opus2018 put up.

You should also note that mileage claims need to be from Office to client or whatever and home-office-home is not claimable.

I would also note on the claims the company or client and a name of the individual and proper approval.

Bear in mind that Revenue of all bodies actually do an awful lot of their meetings by Zoom or its equivalent and many there would be let us say irritated by unnecessary mileage of some of the wider civil service and in particular the HSE types.
