Management fees refund

We paid a full years management fee on our apartment upfront last June for June 2006 to June 2007. We sold the apartment in November 2006. I rang the management company about getting a refund for December to June but they told me I would have to sort it out with the new owner. I contacted our solicitor who wrote to the new owners solicitor asking them for the balance. This was in January and we still haven't heard back from them. Are they legally obliged to pay us the balance or should we just write it off?
 
AFAIK you should have advised your solicitor of this before closing & he should have requested it from the buyers before closing.
 
Your solicitor messed up. We have twice sold an apartment over the last few years and in each case the refund of the management fee was a condition of the sale. I may be wrong but I don't think the new owners are under any obligation to pay it now.
