I am fortunate to have a lump sum coming in early next year in the region of 400k. I am single with 2 children, one of whom is under 18 and I am a home owner mortgage free but have no pension. I really am clueless when it comes to investing so any advice would be appreciated. I'd need easy access to some of it (maybe 50k) but not all. Thank you!

I suggest you do a Money Makeover here.

Do you have life insurance?

I suggest you start a pension.
