I have searched the net and found this company in the U.K. that installs lifts in private homes suitable for the elderly. Has anyone ever seen one of these or know of anyone that has had one? My mother's house is very limited in space with a very narrow staircase, so a stairlift is almost out of the question.
The bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs. Should she become immobile it would be impossible for her to continue to live at home but with a lift not so.
The lift in question is their 'lifestyle lift'.

Grants are available subject to t/c's to facilitate the addition of a downstairs room / wet room for individuals who find through infirmity or ill health that this has become necessary.

Theres a lot of maintenance, servicing and insurance issues with a lift. Have you had an assessment done on getting a stairlift?

You're assuming that any mobility issues will solely relate to getting up and down stairs; its hard to anticipate what supports might be needed until you get there.
