The above properties are currently being promoted in Irish Newspapers. Does anyone know anything about the area. Is it wise to buy a 2 bed apartment on a golf course here?

St Cyrian is nice but not does not compare with Cote d'Azur. Counryside is flat and most of tourists are country-French. It is not really a sophisticated international resort - you have to go much further Ease for that.

Since when were the Pyrennees flat. The drive over the Spanish border just south of this location is one of the most spectacular drives I have taken. Beats the Amalfi Coast. Collioure, again just south of St Cyprien, is a beautiful fishing village which is only just being discovered by tourists from outside of France. IMO the Cote d'Azur has been overrun, is too built up and has had it's day.

It's an interesting area - totally off the map as regards foreign tourism but quite popular with the French themselves - a sort of French Bundoran or Courtown IMHO! You almost never see multilingual menus etc as you might further East. Lovely weather, beautiful scenery, fantastic long sandy beaches, pyrenees on your doorstep. Reasonably accessible via airport at Perpignan or about 90 minutes by rail from Toulouse. Was there about 2 years ago and there was a huge amount of property for sale at very cheap looking prices - eg basic apartments from about €60k. The place fills up in July and August I was told - I was there in June and it was very quiet - I was the only customer on the floor of the local casìno at one stage!

If you ever go over that direction again, try Collioure. 2 bed apartments in Colliour fetch €250k, which is not what I would describe as Bundoran prices, more like Galway. Admittedly the areas just south of Perpignan such as Canet Plage are a bit like Bundoran. Have been in Collioure in May, September and October. It is a working fishing village and therefore is open all year around, but I suspect that it is much busier in the period April to October due to tourist numbers.

Recent issue of French business magazine 'Capital' examined the state of the current French property market, since beginning of year the number of homes for sale has increased by 38%, previously there were 4/5 potential buyers for each property now 1/2. Market appears to be saturated with property for sale

Most leasebacks sell out very quickly. The one i think you are referring to has been a slow seller. Make of that what you will. Having said that i personally love the area, which is tipped as a growth area.

I deal with all the major developers in France and specialise in leaseback properties. As such i am not plugging any particular developer or location. The properties are all over France and are listed on the website at [broken link removed]

I hope you find it useful.
