impact of social welfare payments

Hi,

We have temporaily rented our house as we have moved location due to work. The tenants have missed last months rent and advised that they wish to claim social welfare payments.

What is the impact of this with reagrd to the mortgage relief and income tax on rent ? Also, does anyone have a rough idea of long social welfare payments take to process?

Eh? If you are renting the property other than under the owner occupier rent a room scheme then you should not be claiming owner occupier mortgage interest relief and you are assessable for income tax on the rental income as in any landlord situation. The source of the rental payments is irrelevant.
