Im wondering how much more a single person pays here on average industrial wage compared to Britain. Average industrial wage is 35,000 euros here which equates to £28000 in Britain. My estimation is that a single person will pay about 5500 euros in tax excluding any allowances like pension etc. what would a Briton on £28,000 pay in direct tax?

With a 35K (about 27500 sterling add to xe.com) gross salary you get in Ireland (see taxcalc.eu)
2014: ca 27670 net
2015: ca 28065 net

27500 sterling in the UK (see http://www.uktaxcalculators.co.uk)
Net earnings 21655 (tax year is April to march or something like that)
Which is 27470 euro net

So with 2014 rates around 200 euro less deductions in Ireland.

One could argue of course that you get more bang for your PRSI buck in the UK. (Maybe not, don't know the UK social insurance model)

Both figures for a single individual no specials

As of 2013 the net hourly rate in London was $15.10 as opposed to $16.50 in Dublin.

Taxes and social security was 26% in London and 18% in Dublin.

Annual working hours in Dublin: 1,727, London: 1,787.

In terms of domestic purchasing power, Dublin ranks third after Zurich and Geneva, while London just manages to make the top 20 at number 20!
