How long are Cinema gift vouchers valid?

A number of cinema gift vouchers were gifted to a friend a couple of years ago. Recently she tried to use two of these but when the vouchers were scanned she was told that they had expired. The vouchers do state that they expire within 12 months. Are these vouchers worthless now or are they valid for 5 years?

Depends.

If they were bought and the purchase was after Dec 2nd 2019, they have to be valid for 5 years.

However if they were given by the cinema as a promotion of any form, the validity date can be as long or as short as they wish to make it. Example is dunnes store money off vouchers which are valid for a few days.

So they need to find out if money actually changed hands for the vouchers.
