Hi,

I'm closing on the purchase of a house that needs renovations before I can move in. The renovations could easily take a couple of months. Does anyone know can I insure the house from the time the sale is closed despite it being unoccupied while renovations are being done?

you will get very little cover while the house is unoccupied and the insurer will inist on the person doing the renovation work to have adequate insurance as well.

give them a ring

You can get cover from date of purchase but it will be restricted, probably to fire only nuntil the premises is occupied. also they will not give cover for the work being undertaken so you need to ensure that the builder has cover, ask to see proof of public liability, minimum of €2.6m and if they have it proof of contractors all risks policy.
