Hi Folks,
I am working for a mulitnational that will be looking at making a number of people redundant over the next few months. I have checked my entitlements and with 7 years experience I understand I am legally entitled to 2 weeks/year (maxing at 600Eur/week). This adds up to 8400 Euro.
Does a company making a profit have any other legal obligation to employees to make this sum higher ? Or what is the norm... I always thought with a redundancy you would come out with at least double that.
Thanks,
Darragh.

Most large companies have their own redundacy packages which are negotiated and are payanble on top of the legally required amount. There is no onus on a company to pay more than the legal requirement unless it is company policy.
Our company pay 6 weeks per year of service over and above the legal requirements but it is capped at 130,000.
