flash programmer heating problem

I have recently moved into a new house and the central heating is controlled by a flash programmer. When we moved in first the timer setting wouldn't work, the off switch would turn the heating off, the constant switch would turn it on but the timer would also turn it on even when not timed for that time.

I discovered it was the advance override button was the issue and it worked for a week but now it's back to the same situation and the advance override button won't budge....any suggestions??

We'd need the make/model of the timer to be able to provide more guidance.

Timer controls are cheap enough, might be time to get a new one.
