What would be normal pay/salary for qualified Crèche worker these days, in the commuter belt?

Thanks in advance!! :)

Average creche workers salary is €18,000 (this research is from Waterford City & County Childcare Committees).

Thanks Sarah! Is that research info public, is it on the web somewhere? What if the same person is a qualified Montessori teacher as well?

Thanks again!

its not very much for someone you are trusting with your children's life really is it....

Exactly legend99, crèches costs hundreds of euros every month, and if workers are getting paid such low wages, are there any other major costs involved in running a crèche? Sure it all can not be going in as profit!

The survey is public, its called "Professional Development in the Childcare Sector"

There is a reccomended salary scale for creche/playgroup workers here [broken link removed], but it is mor aspirational than realistic.

For Montessori info., you'd be better off contacting St Nicholas Montessori http://www.snmci.ie/

For all those who think there are huge profits in childcare, there are high staff ratios, high insurance, a lot of regulations to meet etc.

We are almost unique in Ireland for having so little government support for childcare, the price paid reflects the real cost of having your child minded, albeit by highly trained, but poorly paid workers.
