Health Insurance Cost of Tablets & Med1 Claim

I got some tablets on prescription at my local pharmacy. Paid €3.75. When I got home I saw that the price sticker on the box was €3.05.
I queried it & was told that the lower price only applies if you buy them over the counter without a prescription. She then said that I could claim 20% back on the prescription price using Med1 but could not claim anything if bought them without a prescription.
So basically the pharmacy is increasing the price by 20% and they are getting the tax relief that I should be getting?
So I should just buy them over the counter for €3.05 and get the immediate benefit of the reduced price rather than waiting to claim on the Med1.
This just does not seem right or fair?

The pharmacy probably included a fee for processing the prescription.

In my opinion, you should have been advised that the item was available without prescription, so you could have bought at the lower price. I know my pharmacy has done this for me in the past.
