corsa newish battery ran down completely - need new batttery?

Hi,
I left the lights on on my corsa. Battery ran down completely. I was told I should really buy a new battery. As I've only had the battery a year and only have about 5k on the clock since, is there any alternative. At the moment it starts but just about. I'm thinking of replacing the car after July 1st anyway and as it's twelve years old it may just be scrapped at this stage anyway.

Try to start the car with an other battery
go for a few miles to charge it again.
Should be fine !
