I have overpaid my class B PRSI and continue to work. Does anyone know if is it possible to retain my minimum B requirement and convert my surplus to class A and going forward; can I at least pay class A contributions while I continue to work even at an increased cost to myself in order to qualify for a contributory state pension?

If you are still in class B employment I think that any other employment will be classed as subsidiary employment and will be class J.

You might have to cease your class B employment to gain class A contributions.

Class J applies to people earning less than €38 per week. However, people aged over 66 or people in subsidiary employment are always insurable at Class J, no matter how much they earn. Subsidiary employment for Class J is for example, people who are insurable at Class B, C, D or H in their main employment.
