I would urge anyone over 70 with a DIRT exempt account with Ulster Bank to check that this is still the case.
I filled the forms in 2 year ago and no tax was deducted last year, but they did deduct it this year. I can only assume that the details got lost in the software problem a few months ago. To claim it back Form 54 must filled in and claimed back from the tax office, this requires a lot of details of earnings etc and is a bit OTT to claim interest back.
