Best time of year to sell?

Hi
I was going to put my house on the market in October but was told it was a bad time of the year.
What's a good time? Summer? After Christmas?
Im in no major rush to sell but would obviously prefer it to be on the market for as the least amount of time possible

Any advice?

I'm not really sure there is a good time at the moment although I imagine things are a bit slower during summer. If you are in no rush I would put your place on the market now and that will give you the extra time you might need to hold out for the right price.

As I understand it, traditionally the best periods to sell your property were either between:

March - June

late Aug - late October

However, as deedee80 says, at the moment it's hard to know when the best time might be, as the market does appear to be slower than this time last year etc.

The good times are gone - that was last year!
So much on the market now, it really does not matter, it will take quite a while to move whenever you start trying to sell.
