Benefits after redundancy

Can someone tell me what benefits a person might be entitled to after getting redundancy?
When can you claim the dole/job seekers allowance? What's the situation with your stamps if you've been working for years?

My partner is getting laid off and I have no idea on any of his entitlements afterwards.

One question though, am I right in thinking that JB would run out after 12 months and the my partner would have to apply for JA which is means tested so my income would come into it even though we're not married?

In one word, yes. You are treated as a married couple for SW purposes.
