We recently moved back to Southern Ireland from the UK however my husband is still living and working in the UK. Dental costs are RIDICULOUS in Ireland and I wondered if my children would be entitled to free dental treatment in NI seeing as my husband pays his taxes in UK - I am not receiving any benefits in Southern Ireland. Anyone??

Dear Margaret,
I assume that by "Southern Ireland" you mean the Republic of Ireland.
You may be interested to know that the Northernmost point of the island of Ireland is in the republic; or in your terms, Southern Ireland.

@BillK - I find your response unnecessarily mean-spirited - especially 6 weeks after the initial post.

I regularly use terms 'Northern Ireland' and 'the North' to refer to the 6 counties, even though the most northerly point of the island is part of Donegal, in the republic. Everyone I speak to knows what I mean - it is just common usage. Even in Irish we say 'an tuaisceart' which also just means 'the north'.
