Heading to the big apple for a week later in the year with family and want to hire an apartment. Any suggestions / recommendations for apartments or areas in NY?
I'd recommend the Affinia Manhattan on 7th Avenue (http://www.affinia.com/NYC-Hotel/Affinia-Manhattan/overview.cfm). The one-bedroom suite I stayed in had 2 queen size beds, a separate sitting room with sofa bed, 2 bathrooms, a kitchenette and loads of storage space. The staff are really helpful too. Any bad reviews online seem to come from people who booked via an external agency, so book directly with the hotel if you do choose them. It's almost opposite Madison Square Gardens, close to 34th St. for shopping (it's on 31st) and there's a Wholefoods Market further down 7th Avenue for really good hot counter/deli food for eating in.
