Hi,

I've been offered an apartment with Dublin City Council and am viewing it this Friday. However the estate agent has asked for the deposit and my solicitors details. The deposit I understand but do they really need solicitor details at this stage? They've given me two days notice?

I'll ring them tomorrow as I was slightly stunned today about the whole "actually buying an apartment" thing but if anyone has any thoughts it would be appreciated.

Thanks

You won't lose out on the apartment if you don't have a solicitor ready. It's easily solved in a day though. Just ring a load of them up, get quotes etc.

You can also have the council take care of all the legal stuff and then bring in your own solicitor later on to check everything over if you're purchasing through shared ownership.
