Advice on short-term contract work?

I will be starting contract work for a large company in Dublin city in the next week or so. Initially it will be 2/3 days a week. My employer has told me they will look into Health & Safety matters etc. for contract workers, but just from my point of view, what kinds of things should I be aware of?

In particular, is there anything I should insist on being in the contract? Is it up to me to draw up a contract or will my employer have one drawn up? What's the usual route taken here?

All advice welcome!

Your employer will draw up the contract.
Read it and see if you are happy with it. In the absence of any clause to the contrary your employer carries the duty of care from a H&S point of view, even if you are a contractor. Even if there is a clause to the contrary it may not be enforceable.
When you get the contract take it away and read it before you sign it.

That's great thanks. I'll definitely take it away for a read. I suppose the main things for me to be concerned with are - rate of pay, hours of work, length of contract. Just tryin' to think of anything else...?
