Advice needed re stamp duty

My husband has never owned property, I currently own which is for sale with not very much profit. Re: mortgage - which will only be based on husbands earnings. Is it possible he could buy property as a first time buyer in order we could avoid stamp duty on second hand house? Would I have to remove my name from the mortgage even though im not contributing to it?
