AA motor cycle patrols

Recently in cork i caught a glimpse of a motor cyclist that looked like the AA patrols of many years ago. I assumed i was mistaken but yesterday i saw that such patrols are being introduced in England. I wonder have they arrived in Ireland?

I dont know what exactly what you mean by "AA patrols" but for many years, AA rescue personnel have travelled by motor cycle. You regularly see them in Dublin.

I suspect that they are most useful in cities where they can bypass traffic.

Many years ago in the fifties i believe AA introduced motorcycle patrols with distinctive sidecars...prior to second world war they used pedal cycles!. i remember them when going to school as they used to salute motorists which carried their emblem on the car front. they looked very impressive with headgear, goggles and gauntlets.
