1st month rent and deposit

Hi I was just wondering I moved into my apt 6 months ago and gave my first month rent up front and a deposit it's my first time renting so I am unaware that when me lease is up and I move out do I get a month back plus my deposit ??? Thank you
 
No just deposit.

You pay rent in advance, so take the following example, whereby rent is 700 per omnth:

If you moved into apt at start of January, you would have paid:

At end of December before moving in you would pay deposit of 700 and rent for January, another 700 = 1400.
At end of January you would pay rent for Feb 700
At end of Feb you would pay rent for Mar 700
At end of Mar you would pay rent for Apr 700
At end of Apr you would pay rent for May 700
At end of May you would pay rent for June 700

Since you want to move out after six months you would give months notice at this point (at end of May)

At the end of June, you dont pay anymore rent, and you get your 700 deposit back.
