Default Tax on selling art?

I'm an amateur artist but gearing up for selling. Is it true that 'artists' don't have to declare or pay tax on money made selling. Do you need to register in some way or do you just go ahead, sell and don't declare?

You need to claim the exemption. See this link for more information on the workings of the exemption. That link is to a document which dates back to 1999 however and I believe there were some changes announced in the last budget, however I think the main change was putting a ceiling on the earnings exempted of EUR250,000. If you are very good maybe you will have the happy problem of having to pay tax on your earnings in excess of that amount.
