Hi everyone,

Just a few quick questions in relation to executor of a will.

(1) Can you have more than one executor of a will?

(2) If possible to have more than one Executor, do you have to make one a final decision maker in case of disagreement between executors?

(3) Can an executor also be a beneficiary of the will?

Thanks

The simplest matter first: yes, an executor can be a beneficiary.

You can nominate more than one executor, but why would you? I think it is easier if the work is done by one (competent) person. You might consider naming one person as executor, with provision for a named alternative if the first-named executor is unable or unwilling to act.

Hi Padraigb,

Thanks for reply. The reason I ask about more than one executor is because I have kids and should something happen to me one aunt and one uncle (not same aunt/uncle family) have agreed to be guardians and I suppose my thinking is with regard to access to funds it might be better if I have the aunt/uncle also as executors - re two heads better than one.
