civil summons

Is it possible to obtain a civil summons as a citizen or do you have to get a solicitor? Basically can you go to the district court and organise this yourself to take a civil suit against someone?

You can draft the summons yourself alright but it needs to be strict conformity with the District Court Rules 1997 and properly served on the other side also in accordance with the Rules.

Strictly speaking the Courts Service cannot give you any assistance but if you ask them nicely they should oblige. If the matter/Defendant resides in Dublin contact the Civil office in Dolphin House Dublin 2 and check out courts.ie for summons precedents and the rules.
