Insurance for a vacant house

Does anyone know of any insurance company which would insure a house in Ireland which would be lying vacant for a year?

I know insurance companies don't usually do it...but I know there are people who have bought apartments and left them idle. So I'm assuming they have insurance...although may be just block policy.

Any ideas???

many thanks m

whoever insures at present may be the best to approach. if there is no one insureing ar present, then perhaps whatever company you have business wiht mioght consider it.

Thanks for reply. Have approached the company who presently insures but it doesn't sound too promising.

What do all these investors do who buy properties to leave them vacant. Are they all covered by block policies?

Try a broker. they should be able to get fire only cover through Lloyds of London.

Thanks Ailbhe, I'll give that a shot.

If anyone else has anything, let me know! cheers m
