I need some advice.

I have been in my present job for the past 8 yrs, don't get me wrong I do like the place, however work is getting slacker and slacker. What I would like to do is ask my employer for voluntary redundancy.

The thing is I do not know how to approach the subject as if I was refused I feel that may put my on the line.

Any ideas

Thanks in advance

Re: Redundancy

Look for employment elsewhere first! What line of work are you in? Sometimes there can be different procedures for different industries?

Re: Redundancy

Hi Joe,

I work within the ECommerce sector, we Develop/support software for the Insurance sector. I have looked at similar employment and the downside is the salary out there is nothing like I am on at present (at least 12k less).

There is no way I can take a drop that size.

Re: Redundancy

I'd suggest you use any slack time to upskill. Either you leave when you're ready or wait until you are made redundant.

Prepare for a drop in salary either way.
