Help needed Please!

I started a new job4 weeks ago & I havent been givin a contract.When I was being interview I was told the hours were from 8.45 till 5.45. However since Ive started I hav'nt finished any day before 6.00 .On Thurs & Friday, it could be 6.20 before I finish.There are no set breaks, ie morning or afternoon breaks ,& even though we are supposed to have lunch from 1.00 till 2.00, sometimes I may not get out until 20 past 1,& have to be back in work at 5 to 2 which gives me 35 min in all.Im wondering what my rights are with regard to breaks. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

The general rule on breaks is that you are entitled to a break of 15 minutes after a 4 ½ hour work period and a further break of 15 minutes after a 6 hour work period. There is no entitlement to be paid during these breaks.
