Hi Guys,

I started a new permanent job and the probation is 6 months. If I pass my probation in 6 months, I am thinking in applying for a mortgage. However recently I spoke to a friend who said I have to be working for 12 months in a permanent job, before the banks will approve a mortgage for me, is this the case ? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Note I left an other permanent job for this new job and the previous job I was there a few years.

They will look for you to finish your probation and be made permanent.

The 12 month stipulation is they look for you to be in 12 months continuous employment. As you left one job for another, that counts.

There is no need to change from your current plans. Best of luck with everything.
