If a Grandparent that lives with you dies are you entitled to paid leave from work? If so how much? Is it at the discretion fo your employer?
 
As a guideline - policy in work here is:-
"
Bereavement Leave is special leave with pay, which is given to an employee in the event of the death of a family member or immediate relative. Bereavement leave is granted on the death of a wife, husband, partner, mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, daughter, son, sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, partners mother or father.

Up to 5 working days is given in the case of a spouse / partner or child and up to 3 working days is given for other immediate relatives. In exceptional circumstances an employee may be allowed 3 working days special leave with pay following the death of more distant relatives. Where the deceased had lived with the staff member or where responsibility for funeral arrangements rests with the employee.

Bereavement Leave with pay exceeding the above limits may be granted at the discretion of local management, (for example, where one has to take charge of funeral arrangements or has resided in the same house as the deceased).

Written notification of bereavement leave taken should be submitted to XXXX on return to work."
