Mortgage shortfall

thanks Mrs Vimes, I was on to revenue and they gave me one answer then another. She will be moving in with her boyfriend after getting married. They said she will be liable for cgt from that date, nov, but I can't see how that would be true seeing as she will be assessed as a single person until the next tax period, so cgt should apply from jan?

As I said, the basis of assessment your sister and her spouse choose has no bearing on how many pprs they can have. It is possible to be assessed as single persons for income tax for as long as you want but you can still have only one ppr from the date of marriage.

scroll down to page 15 of the pdf linked [broken link removed] under main exemptions and reliefs ; private residence.

You cannot be jointly assessed for CGT, so their IT/PAYE basis of assessment is irrelevant.
