A direct debit was returned by my bank in error and the bank have acknowledged that. I contacted 123.ie on the day it was declinded and asked me make a payment over the phone, they refused that stating that I would have to wait until bank had confirmed to them that it was declined. At that stage they would apply Euro15 charge on top of my monthly payment. After trying to reason with them for some time I cancelled the policy. They have now come back to me saying that I owe Euro58 (and they have also taken my Euro25 deposit) and said they are going to get that by direct debit. I told them, for a second time, that the direct debit is cancelled. So now they are saying I need to pay by visa by tomorrow or another Euro15 will be put on top - is this even legal? Are they entitled to do this?
