Deteriorated heating system cover?

Hello everyone,
My house insurance policy covers 'all escape or overflow of water from within any heating system, fixed water apparatus....' yet there is an exclusion at the back 'Wear tear, rust, corrosion, gradual deterioration or any gradually operating cause....' My worry is a gun-barrel metal heating system which may leak over the coming years underground and that I won't be covered after paying house insurance for 27 yrs.? Has anybody any experience of claims like this? Allianz is the company.
Thanks

no company will cover for something ageing over time. If you know it needs to be replaced then get it replaced to prevent the damage occuring in the first place. It's up to you to minimise the chances of a loss occuring and therefore regular maintenance is important.
The only way you are covered for water damage is if the pipes are damaged following a bout of frost or an occurance like this. Not if they have become worn/rusted due to age.
