House Swap

I am registered with a house swap website and appear to have found a match.

I need to move to the country and the other property owner needs to move to dublin.

We both like each other properties but I have no idea how to move forward.

Do we have independant valuations done on the properties and agree on a cash difference.

My property is most definitely worth more than the country property but I've no idea by how much.

I know stamp duty etc will still need paying but I'm concerned that solicitors will not be familiar with these transactions.

Has anybody got any experience with these transactions?

Thanks

It's very simple and straightforward. Yes, you need to get valuations of the two properties and have agreed the equality money for the exchange. Other than that it will be treated exactly as any other purchase and sale. Stamp duty is on the value of the house in each case.
