Update on etf taxation, please!

I am finally going to take the plunge and invest in an etf fund. Or am I ??? The only thing holding me back is my lack of clarity on the taxation issue. I have read the threads in this forum but was wondering if anybody has any update in the tax issues as follows:

- tax in dividends --- what is the tax rate? And what if the etf is an accumulating one that does not distribute dividends?

- cgt or is it exit tax which applies? And at what rate? Can losses in 1 etf be written off against a gain in another etf?

- does the 8 year rule apply?

- are there different rules for the above depending on where the etf is domiciled? So where should the etf be domiciled for best tax efficiency?

I would appreciate it greatly if you could advise as I cannot wait to get a move on. Thanks.

ETF queries

My understandings:

Those domiciled in the EU best from tax point of view.

Gross Roll Up regime applies rather than CGT.....not sure about 8 year rule.

Gains/Losses NOT off-settable even where the ETFs are sub-funds of the same UCITS structure.

If you go for distributing ETFs dividends are subject to Standard Rate tax.
