Calculating historical losses on AIB

Hi,

I've made a considerable capital gain this year and would like to sell my AIB shares to crystallise a considerable loss. I don't have the original receipt for the purchase of some of the shares. What options do I have to calculate the cost of the shares for CGT purposes? The stock exchange says to use the closing price on the day.

Have you asked the broker through whom you bought the shares for the information?

Other than that, the closing price on the day + 1% stamp duty + 1% broker's commission.

I have the broker number from some of the certs, I will try that. Thanks.

In the absence of actual transaction record I will use the closing price.

Do you not have had to crystallise the loss prior to the gain in order to avail of the relief you are trying to avail of ?.
