Hi There,

I am looking at booking flights to the states and to the major cities in the states any websites that can do the whole package??

thinking rougly of flying from Shannon(if possible) onto Boston then onto washington, chicago, florida, san francisco, Las vegas Maybe new orleans.

I would like to get all the flights for around the 1k mark if possible.

Thanks,
Sully.

You should be able to get all of them from Delta for a good price. Last year we went Dublin-Orange County (California) then LA - Vegas - Alaska - Chicago - Dublin for under 700 euro with them.

Use the multi city link on [broken link removed]

Thanks Seashells, thats sound like fantastic value, i will definitely check that out. I am also checking out Trailfinders and edreams for deals for this summer and hopefully we will get good flight deals.

Cheers,
Sully.

PS if any knows of where to book cheap hotels in america that would be great if you could pass them on here

Best value hotels through www.hotwire.com and - We book almost all of our hotels on both these sites and save a fortune. Hilton Metropole London $89 on Hotwire, £150 on hotel's own website. Hyatt Grand Central $120 on Priceline, $269 on hotel's own website.

Both of these websites are opaque ie they don't reveal the hotel until after you've paid! It's not as scary as it sounds, you just need to do your research first. Bear in mind that bookings through thes websites are non-refundable.

They don't work the same way so I'l try to explain them as best I can.

Hotwire
On http://www.hotwire.com you choose your city, then select the area of the city you want to stay in. The areas given are quite general so you do need to do some research first. When you input your dates it comes up with a list of hotels available, except it doesn't actually reveal the name. What you'll get is X star hotel in area Y with a list of amenities and then the price. You pick the one you want, pay and then the hotel is revealed.

There are two ways of trying to work out what the hotels are before you pay. One is to go back to the first screen and select car hire and hotel for the same areas and dates. Compare the amenity lists for the hotels on the package search (which are revealed) and the hotel only search (where they're secret). The hotels tend to be the same. The second way is to check out the lists on http://www.betterbidding.com. This forum has hotwire and priceline lists for major cities.

Hotwire does allow you book a room for up to 4 people.

Priceline
I prefer to use http://www.priceline.com although there is a .uk version too. Hotwire does two types of search, one where hotels are disclosed, just like any other hotel search site. The other way is to "name your own price". Like with hotwire you select your dates, city and area. Then you name a price. You enter your payment details (it will ask for a US zip code, I use 90210) and see if your offer is accepted. If your offer is rejected there are a number of strategies you can use, go to http://www.betterbidding.com for help on-rebids. Again there's a list of priceline hotels on that website.

On priceline they only guarantee you a room for 2 people.

Hints and tips

On these websites I advise that you never go below 4 star, it's a safer gamble that way.

Always check the lists on http://www.betterbidding.com and when in doubt, post on the forum there for advice on best bids.

Check the forums on betterbidding.com to give you an idea of starting bids.

Hope this helps some of you get the bargains we do!
