Do I get a receipt from the Revenue?

I sent a cheque to the Revenue for €50k in respect of CGT several weeks ago. I
never received any acknowledgement or receipt for it. Is this normal procedure?

Revenue stopped issuing paper receipts for tax payments in July 2011, in favour of issuing electronic receipts. If you have access to ROS the receipt will be there in your Inbox. If you really want a paper receipt you can ring your local office and they will send one to you.

If you are in doubt whether they received it, check your bank a/c to see has the payment been taken.

I had same issue 6 months back with CGT. Didn't get receipt. Assumed it was standard practice.
