Reasonable Living Expenses when partner bankrupt

In a scenario where the husband is declared bankrupt how is his pay treated vis a vis reasonable living expenses?
Is it the case that he will be entitled to keep an amount from his earnings up to half of the reasonable living expenses "allowance" irrespective of what his (non-bankrupt) wife is earning?
Any advice much appreciated.

The Official Assignee will take into account the spouse's earnings. If the spouse has no earnings, then the bankrupt will be allowed to retain sufficient monies to cover the family's living expenses. If the spouse is able to pay 50%, then she will be expected to pay 50%.

Jim Thanks for that.
Time, I think what jim is saying is that it would be unfair to creditors to allow the bankrupt to "use" the whole allowance.
From what you are saying Jim I assume then that the non-bankrupt spouse would not be expected to provide more than 50% in any circumstance.
