I'm looking for a some help please? I work for an Irish company based in Dublin and registered for Irish VAT. We recently ordered some IT equipment from a UK supplier to be delivered to a premises that we have in Manchester. The supplier charged us UK VAT on the basis that the goods were only moving within the UK.

I believe that they have done this correctly. I'm just wondering if there is any way I can reclaim this VAT or do I just need to bear it as a cost.

We will be doing similar things in the future. If it's not reclaimable are my only options a choice between
1. Incurring the VAT as a cost
2. Having the UK supplier deliver to us in Dublin. We would then incur the cost of onward shipment to Manchester
3. Sourcing similar goods from an Irish supplier.

Any guidance would be very much appreciated.

You can also register for VAT in the UK.
If this is going to be a regular occurrence, I think that would be the best way.
