Mortgage and out of work - can I get FIS

Hey
I recently got a mortgage on my own and bought a house for me and my son who is 1 and a half. I've been in full time employment for over 6 years but can no longer sustain this due to childminding difficulties. If I was to leave my full time job and get a part time one, would I be entitled to family income support? I'm just not sure if I'm entitled to this as I have a mortgage?

My sons father gives me €30 per week for maintenance.

Any info on FIS would be greatly appreciated as this is all new to me.

Many thanks.

What are the childminding difficulties.....childcare is only very expensive for a few years....have you shopped around so to speak.....

My son is only 1 and a half and creche costs at least €750 a month (this is the lower end price) which I just can't afford.

If you are entitled to FIS while working full time as you may be as you are parenting alone then you may be able to have your son attend a community creche which has much lower rates. Getting a place is another issue, but its a possibility.

As long as you earn €506 or less you will get a payment, maintenance is taken into account, but child benefit isn't.
