LPT for 2015 - Bought in 2013 - but didn't move in until 2014

Hi,

The sale completed on our new house in December 2013. It is our principal private residence. However, as we were getting work done to the house, we did not move in until May 2014 so were renting until then. The vendor paid the LPT for 2014. My understanding was that as we purchased in 2013, we are exempt from LPT until the end of 2016. I rang Revenue and they confirmed this.

However, I have subsequently received a letter from them asking me to confirm 'what date you moved into this property and is it your principal private residence?'. I am now worried that the fact we only moved in in 2014 affects the exemption.

Would anyone know what the situation is with the exemption?
