Bank sent a letters to us re bad relationship with the Bank

Hi there,

So I am looking for advice we have a joint account and then our own personal accounts - we both got a letter for our personal accounts stating that due to an unsatisfactory relationship with the Bank with effective from 60 days they are no longer prepared to offer us banking facilities. Please arrange to close our account.

We have spoken to the banks and this is the setup:

Partners personal account has never had a return DD or missed payment

My personal account has missed DDs but paid them when requested

Joint account has missed DDs on a monthly basis but getting them paid now

We have a loan on the joint account and there is arrears of 260.00 so i can bring that back up to date by next week

Joint Mortgage is in arrears at present but there is an agreement in place to pay extra on the monthly payments for the next 10 months. These payments are scheduled to come out on the 4th of the month but they don't actually get paid till later on in the month.

The bank said that we cannot miss any more DD or missed payments.

So my questions are;
If we bring the loan arrears up to date and go through all our DD and ensure that they are paid on time will this solve the bank wishing to close our account.

Is my partner only getting this letter because he is on the joint account

What should i do about the date of the mortgage coming out. If i change the date there is no way i can pay two payments in one month at the minute.

1.Yes;
Bank want rid of your account ; from their view missing DD,s mean you are not the type of customer they want.
2. Yes;
It is a joint account so both need to be written to.
3. Maybe;
If you miss actual dates , it is not the end of the world proided you can update fairly promptly.Suggest write to them (keep copies, don,t phone), explain your reasoning and make payments as suits your income coming in.
If it helps; prioritize paying the Mortgage , the loan can {wait}a bit.

sorry if i am not understanding and repeating the questions, i am in a fluster!!

So what i have done is changed all methods of payment that I can so they are not DD. That means the only DD going out will be the personal loan and mortgage on the joint account.

I am paying the arrears on the small loan this Fri.

I have put reminders in my phone for my personal account and the DD that come out there for the day beforehand to ensure that there is money in the account.

With regards to my partners personal account there is nothing we can do on this to improve it as there is no DD or missed payments so he only a letter quoting his personal account number because he is linked to the joint??

Is there anything more i should do bar not miss payments going forward i know. Should i go in and talk to our local bank?

Im a little wary about the mortgage payment as we are in a specialised agreement for the next 10 months
 
Id just tell them that if they close the personal accounts you will be unable to meet the repayments on your specialised agreement and how do they like them apples.

Seperately I would get your parter to write a letter and get them to explain why they are closing his account as he never caused any problem and to please back off if they dont mind ever so much.

Outrageous behaviour on their part imho but thats the way they are now.

No point in starting a war!.
Bank can close any account if they so wish, may well be poor form but their call!
In any event Dartsfan is in arrears so no point getting angry.

I would be inclined to kill all DD,s for now and you make payments when you have the funds. It may mean you are bit late but that is better than trying to figure out have you nuff at any given time. One thing about being late is that Mr Bank will send you reminders ie they will (manage) you. Once up to date all hassle goes.
I take specialized agreement to mean a re-schedule of some sort.Try to keep to any reschedule and on review give Mr Bank an honest appraisal of where your finances are at.
Often people just take Mr Banks figures on affordability as gospel but sometimes they look for more than is sensible.
As I said I would prioritize Mortgage
 
Banks writing out to customers giving time to close their account is far from new, the administration in maintaining an account for people who cannot or in some cases will not manage their account is significant, like any business they want to keep their good accounts and move on the rest if they can.
 
Thanks for all your replies guys. Just checked my account to make sure DD for the loan and the mortgage came out and whilst the loan did, it appears the mortgage didnt. I was going to go in and talk to my own bank for reassurance that if i monitor all going forward and payments are met that they will not close the account and buisness will resume back to normality. It seems that one person on the phone is saying dont worry about the letters just make sure you make the payments and another person is saying the bank can still decide to close the account. So I am really stressed about all of this. Who do i believe?? It seems you cant talk directly to your own bank on the phone it is all centralised now. My heart is jumping out of my body thinking about all of this.

Customer service and Banks only work in Banks favour.
Simply they want rid of your accounts.

Get payments on mortgage etc on side and DO not worry about letters etc as long as you get things updated within circa 1 month.
It means you may have to pay mortgage by calling to a branch , so be it ; at least then you are in control.You will also avoid the extra charges.

Be very sure of this;
If you in future maintain payments you have no need to worry your {heart}
