Insurance claim for Dog Bite?

Hello,
I am hoping someone can help me.
My cousing got bitten by a dog on a beach who was not on a lead.
Her injuries needed plastic surgery.
Does she have an insurance claim and against whom?
she has no personal health cover.
can we make a claim on the household policy of the offending dog owner?

speedy replies would be gratefully appreciated.

She could try suing the owner and let them find out if their household insurance covers it. I was readinhg a home insurance policy for something else recently (clients shed was stolen!) and didn't notice anything about pets.

If owner has house insurance, more than likely s/her has personal liability cover whch would cover this particular case. However, as this type of cover is not compulsory, it is vital that the owner report the matter immediately to his/her insurers, lest they refuse to deal with the case if there is a delay in the notification.
