Repaint white cast iron bath?

Can a white cast iron bath which is stained be sucessfully painted? There are products available that can be painted on but do they work well? . Has anyone used them? I know you can get a bath re-enamelled professionally but this is not an option in this case.

If it is stained it may be worth getting a bath rubber and giving it a scrub.

Thanks for the tip. The bath is in an apartment we bought in France. It seems as if an abrasive chemical could have been used to clean it before. When it gets a good scrub it gets clean but discolours gradually over a few weeks. It would be a big job to have it replaces as it is tiled in.

you would lose the first row of tiles around bath. ensure you can get tiles before you start. the fitting of bath is easy and not time consuming, it will then need to be tiled and resealed. a good handyman would do it all.

Thats the problem! The tiles are old and cannot be bought. I dont want to change them all.
