Was wondering if anyone might have an opinion on which of the following two courses would be more likely to lead to employment? Or if you have any other comments on choosing between the two...

Mathematical Modelling and Scientific Computing MSc

[broken link removed]

Data Science and Analytics MSc (this is twice the price of the one above, as one above is partially funded)

Data analyics has a great future as all SME are following multinational companies on data analytics and big data so if it was me i would definitely choose data analytics for whatever price

Data Science and Analytics is more likely to have mainstream commercial applicability. Agree with the previous poster -- "big data" is all the rage, while modelling and scientific computing is important/interesting but likely to fill a more rarefied niche.

Both to be honest. Mathematical modelling skills are in huge demand in areas like financial services. The advice in these things is always pick the one you think you will enjoy the most. Not saying ignore employment opportunities but no point being miserable in a course just because you think there will be a job at the end of it. You have to be enthusiastic about what you do.

Thanks guys!

Out of curiosity, if someone did the Mathematical Modelling and Scientific Computing MSc course might it still be possible to work in Data Analytics if they later decided to do so?

That is, since it's not a completely unrelated field.

Or would employers who want data analysts only want those who have specifically studied Data Analytics / Operational Research?
