hi I wonder if you can help me, a friend and I were talking yesterday about inflation/cost of living and she said my wages should have increased over the years to reflect this.

What I really want to know is if this true and if so who do I speak to about this. Is this law, does he have to increase wages to reflect inflation/cost of living? Reason I ask is that come August ill be here 4 years without a wage rise or a cost of living rise.

all help appreciated. thanks

If you haven't received a pay DECREASE in the past four years, count yourself lucky. Many people have seen their salaries decrease 20% and more in that time period.

There is no legal entitlement to a cost of living, or any increase in the private sector. Public sector is a bit different.

No pay increase over the past few years with all the tax, usc and PRSI increases is effectively a wage cut. I know others have had additional wage cuts too.
